Dental Decision: Dentures or Dental Implants in Portland Maine?

When it comes to choosing the best solution to a dental problem, in Portland Maine, especially when it comes down to two options, what would you do?

The most practical thing to do is to get a paper and write down each option’s pros and cons then you decide which seems better. Of course in the case of choosing between dental implants and dentures you would need some sound advice from a certified  Portland Maine cosmetic dentist.

But these two dental procedures have the same underlying principle and that is to conceive or replace damaged teeth. Here’s a brief information to help you decide.

Dental Implants are made of titanium metal that is securely placed in the gums and the bone socket beneath it. The metal root is screwed in place to make it secure and safe. On top of the metal root is a tooth crown (that resembles the real one) which is strong enough to withstand the toughest bite on a steak or even corn.

You won’t have any problems if you misplaced it somewhere or suddenly falling off due to laughing hard at someone’s joke. It is as resilient and strong as the real teeth.

You will be under sedation dentistry while the procedure is going on. The cosmetic dentist will make everything run smoothly while you a whole new smile is being set in your mouth.

Dentures on the other hand may cost cheaper and a faster procedure may not be as secured in your mouth. There may be instances when you forgot to put it on or where you last left it (hopefully not anywhere outside the house). It may also not be as strong as the real tooth.

Maybe with the right attitude, dentures may also work out. But if you don’t mind spending a bit more then why not get a dental implant instead?
